But too often, animal genetic testing results are complex and confusing. You almost need a bioinformatician or genetic counselor to interpret the findings.

Until now.

Bullseye GX’s genetic testing reports are comprehensive yet straightforward and easy to understand.

Our goal was clear from the beginning.

We wanted to create a unique and innovative company that simplifies genetic testing for cattle, dairy, sheep, and goat producers.

Along the way, we’ve been fortunate to receive support from the LaunchLNK grant and the greater Lincoln community.

This support has not only helped us kick-start our business, but also fueled our passion for making a difference in the livestock industry.

What We Do

At Bullseye GX, we provide genetic testing solutions for the beef and dairy industries. 

Recently, we expanded our services to include sheep and goat producers as well.

The inspiration for starting Bullseye GX stemmed from our own experiences within the beef cattle industry. We observed firsthand the challenges producers faced in effectively applying genetic testing results to their operations.

Unlike traditional services that can overwhelm ranchers with data, we pinpoint the exact genetic markers relevant to their cattle, ensuring clarity and applicability in every result.

For example, we offer diagnostic testing for Bovine Congestive Heart Failure (BCHF) or “Brisket Disease.” BCHF is a progressive heart disorder in beef cattle, associated with high mortality rates and substantial economic impact.

Additionally, time is a critical resource in the cattle industry, so we streamlined our processes to deliver genetic insights within days, not weeks. We work with producers to provide timely results so that they can make quick breeding decisions.

 Our results can help breeders predict herds’ health outcomes and increase profitability.

The LaunchLNK Grant

When we received the LaunchLNK grant, we were beyond excited.

With the grant, we are accelerating the development of a prototype technology designed to track specific health conditions in livestock.

While we can’t reveal all the details yet, this innovative tool will empower producers to implement more effective breeding and health management strategies, ultimately improving their animals’ well-being and productivity.

Overcoming Challenges

We’ve faced a few challenges while building Bullseye GX.

The first major hurdle was raising enough money to get the business off the ground. Securing funding and building relationships with potential investors took time and persistence.

Additionally, effectively marketing our services with a limited budget was another challenge.

However, through each call with potential customers, we’ve picked up insights on how to market our services effectively.

What we’ve learned from those meetings is incredibly valuable as we continue to grow and reach new customers.

We owe a lot of our success to the support we’ve received from the Lincoln community. Building an animal health business in Lincoln, Nebraska, has been a positive experience.

The city offers affordable laboratory facilities, a skilled and productive workforce, and proximity to potential customers. 

The expanding startup ecosystem in Lincoln also provides support and networking opportunities, which have been instrumental in navigating the challenges of building a business from the ground up.

Community Support

We’re thankful for everyone who invested in our mission, from former colleagues who collaborated with us to troubleshoot ideas to our angel investor whose support turned our vision into reality.

Working with the UNL Extension office has also been invaluable in gaining a deeper understanding of the industry. 

The Business and Innovation program has been instrumental in advancing our research, and our early adopters played a crucial role in our growth.

With the support of the LaunchLNK grant and the Lincoln entrepreneurial community, we are confident Bullseye GX will continue to thrive and provide valuable solutions for livestock producers.
